10 Habits That Everyone Must Pursue In Their Lives

Hey Friends, I read the book “Atomic Habits by James Clear” which helped me understand the power of habits. That book was based on a 4-step solution to make a new habit or break a bad habit. I won’t give any spoilers and recommend you read it at least once. Without any further delay, let’s start today’s blog on 10 habits that everyone must pursue in their lives, no matter their age or job.

Habits are the building blocks for the goals we want to achieve in our lives. Habits are those automated tasks that we do regularly without much thinking or concentration. For example: brushing our teeth, bathing, driving etc. Someone has rightly said, if you want to work on a goal, change your habits; for example, if you’re going to become a writer, then write something daily or if you’re going to become a reader, then read every day for at least 10-15 minutes. So, let’s dig up some of the habits you must pursue to become a better person.

10 Habits That Everyone Must Pursue In Their Lives

  1. Reading Books

I have told this previously also that you must read books to become a better version of yourself as it is one of the most common habits of all the successful people in the world. Books help us to understand & learn from the lives of other people without even interacting with them.

  1. Meditate

Meditation means knowing your inner self. It helps you gain control over all the emotions going around in your mind. It doesn’t mean that you won’t get angry if you meditate; instead, you will know that you are getting mad over something, so you can stop that emotion and calm down. Usually, people don’t have control over their feelings, and they get angry or emotional even when it is not needed. Hence, I would recommend you start meditating.

  1. Writing Down Thoughts

The best thing I learned about Marcus Aurelius was that he used to write down all the thoughts going around in his mind after he woke up. So that he can remove all the unimportant thoughts and focus only on the important ones, so, I would recommend you to start writing down all the thoughts going on in your mind once you wake up. For this, you can maintain a diary to write your daily thoughts and work on the important ones.

  1. Reduce Screen Time

Try to reduce the time you spend on your phone or desktop. Only use these electronic gadgets for your work or emergencies. Put your phone down at least one hour before going to bed, and do not pick up your phone for at least one hour after waking up. This little habit will protect your eyes from damage and improve your mental health.

  1. Exercise

Everyone must exercise no matter what their age is. Exercising helps us to improve both our physical and mental health. It will help you focus more on your work and flush out all the negative things from your mind. Even if you cannot afford to go to the gym, you can perform the basic exercises at home to keep yourself fit.

  1. Waking Up Early

Waking up before most people will give you the extra time that you can use to kick-start your day. You can do most of the basic yet important tasks like reading, meditating, exercising and writing your thoughts once you wake up. It will motivate you to perform better at your daily job. All the successful people wake up early in the morning and make the previously mentioned habits before going to work. Hence, you must learn from them and start waking up early to become a better person.

  1. Retrospect Your Day

Everyone should retrospect his daily activity before going to bed. Whether it was a small thing or a big thing, you must analyse what went wrong or correct and how you can improve yourself. Retrospection means self-analysis, therefore, do not look at others’ mistakes; instead, try to figure out what you did wrong or what you could have done to deal with the situation better. Avoid making the same mistakes again if you counter similar problems.

  1. Avoid Junk Food

I read a quote yesterday that says, “Eating junk food is so common that eating healthy food is labelled as dieting”. This quote speaks so much about how people behave when they stop eating junk food. Eating healthy food will make your body fit and make your mental health and physical appearance better. In the starting, you may feel tough to avoid junk food and eat healthy food, but once you make it a habit, you will love healthy food more than junk food.

  1. Drink More Water

Drink at least 2-3 litres of water daily. It will help you make your skin clear by protecting you from acne and pimples and detoxifying your body by flushing out the waste while urinating. Once you wake up, drink a glass of water, fill a 2-litre water bottle, and finish two bottles by the end of the day. Keep the bottle near you, so you don’t need to get up to take the bottle from another place. You can download a water reminder app or set some recurring reminders for drinking water.

  1. Maintain Healthy Relationship With Positive People

Always maintain a healthy relationship with people who supports you and guides you in all aspects of your life. These people are the ones who play a crucial role in your success. Hence, never disrespect or insult them and always listen and understand them. Maintaining a healthy relationship doesn’t mean that you will do whatever they say, but take their advice and acknowledge them politely even if they are sometimes wrong.

So, these were some of the basic yet crucial 10 habits that everyone must pursue in their lives. I hope you would have loved the blog and will start acting on all these simple habits to make your life better.
